Did you know that for every qualified professional in higher education fundraising, there are 4-5 open jobs available to them? To meet the growing demand for talented, experienced young development professional, Rutgers University Foundation (RUF) is actively seeking motivated and spirited interns for their third annual summer internship program in development and alumni relations. Applicants with an interest in getting in at the ground floor of this booming industry are strongly encouraged to apply to be a part of an immersive, exclusive summer experience at Rutgers.

Be a part of the third Futures in Advancement program along with a cohort of your peers selected from a competitive group of applicants.  Over the course of the program, you will spend time in one of Rutgers’ schools, development units, athletic programs or health centers working and collaborating alongside professionals in the fields of fundraising and alumni relations. In addition, each week you and your cohort will come together for an interactive Classroom Workshop dedicated to exploring the theory and practice of development where you will be educated in the art and science of fundraising, learn about the personal career experiences of leadership at the Foundation and experience off-campus site visits to local nonprofits.

This comprehensive, 360-degree experience will prepare you for entry-level roles in sales, public relations, event planning and strategic communications in the public and private sectors. Graduates of the program will have exclusive access to a network of development and alumni relations professionals at Rutgers and across the country.

Applicants should:

  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at Rutgers
  • Be able to dedicate 10 weeks of fulltime (35 hour) work from June – August and adhere to a Monday – Friday working schedule;
  • Possess a willingness to participate in potential travel opportunities in the local tristate area;
  • Provide their own housing during the 10 week internship;

Applicants with previous experience in fundraising or nonprofit work a plus, but not required.

Accepted interns will be compensated at a rate of $12.50/hour during the internship.
