Overview

Performs analysis with end-users to determine requirements for the design, development and implementation of information systems for Rutgers University Foundation (RUF) and the Office of Alumni Relations.   Plays a key role in conducting business and data analysis for these systems and in implementing new business policies and procedures based upon system use. Performs all system and application testing, end-user training in reporting database and applications and end-user help desk support.

Responsibilities

  • Works together with the Assistant Director of IT and the Director of Application Development to perform analysis for data and business requirements for the implementation of new systems, and upgrades, enhancements and maintenance of existing systems.  This includes analysis of data structures, working with end-users to determine specifications for reports and system modules, and analysis of business processes. Develops and documents data and business models, issues and business requirements and report and system specifications. Works independently with the end-users in determining these requirements.  Works as a team member with the programmers in the implementation of these requirements.
  • Acceptance tests reports and software developed by programmers as well as system upgrades from software vendors.  This includes developing structured test plans and employing them during the testing process.  Documents all test findings, and works closely with application developers and project leaders in the resolution of these issues, reporting issue to the vendor and re-testing revisions.
  • Provides end-user support in the use of the advancement services system, reporting database, accounting system, telefund system and other applications as well as end-user software tools. Responds to all help desk calls, and works closely with end-users to assist with use of the systems, problem resolution (e.g. system errors) and training/understanding of the system. 
  • Determines end-user requirements for training.  Works together with the Assistant Director of IT and the Director of Application Development to develop a training curriculum (e.g. series of courses).  Develops format and content for training sessions and prepares all training materials, both print and electronic.  Develops coordinating system documentation, such as user manuals, “cheat sheets” and screen guides. Conducts training classes and continually improves the training process by soliciting feedback from training participants and implementing new and better training programs.
  • Performs systems analysis of business issues and works together with the senior analyst and the director of application development to  make recommendations to improve business processes, use of the system and data integrity.  This includes data usage and access policies, system use and business policies, workflow procedures, and design of data tables.  Also works to uncover and resolve any data inconsistencies or integrity problems.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelors degree in liberal arts, computer science, technology, science or related field.  Should have at least 1-2 years of prior business or systems analysis experience.  Relevant experience may be substituted for education.
