Reporting to the Director of Development Events, the Assistant Director of Development Events is a key member of the Development Events team.  He/she will plan and execute events that cultivate, recognize and steward donors to the University. 

Responsibilities

The Assistant Director of Development Events will assist in the development of strategic plans for events in support of the fundraising efforts of the Rutgers University Foundation.  Serving as a lead planner for a portfolio of events, the Assistant Director will collaborate with fundraising staff to develop an event concept, audience and budget.  This position will coordinate invitation design with the Communications department, prepare briefings for university and foundation presidents and manage and oversee all event logistics, planning and follow-up.  Additionally, this position will support other events managed by the Donor Relations department.  He/she will provide on-site management and support for the execution of events. This position will manage data by producing invitation lists and donor/event reports.  He/she will work professionally with the IT and Research departments as well as many other departments around the University.  This position requires heavy lifting, long periods of standing, and other physical activity as well as work on evenings and weekends

Qualifications

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy; exceptional written and oral communications skills.  Must have the ability to manage multiple complex projects, attentiveness to detail, and advanced problem solving abilities.  Event experience strongly preferred. Fundraising and/or higher education experiences with data management and a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite also preferred.
