    The Rutgers University Foundation (RUF) seeks an innovative, collegial and service oriented Senior Prospect Management Analyst to serve as the trusted partner to the high performing fundraisers at Rutgers University. As we prepare for a future multi-billion dollar campaign, this position is part of a significant strategic expansion in enhanced prospect management and data analytics to support the creation and maintenance of rich, deep and continuously updated donor portfolios. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Prospect Management, this role will be a forward focused, data-savvy professional that will work closely with partners in Prospect Research team and our newly created Strategic Data Analytics team to assist front-line fundraisers in having a deeper understanding of their prospect pools. S/he will work with some of the best fundraisers in the industry, who along with the rest of the Foundation team, have successfully raised over $200 million this past fiscal year, constituting the best fundraising year in the history of the University.

     

    The Senior Prospect Management Analyst will be joining the Foundation at a time of great enthusiasm for our future campaign, new Foundation facilities and office space, as well as an environment that encourages creativity, cutting-edge technology and out-of-the-box ways to work efficiently and intelligently.

     

    The Senior Prospect Management Analyst will help manage the prospect assignment and portfolio review processes. They will assist in the design and implementation of reports and programs which assist development staff in retrieving and executing prospect tracking data, serve as the primary point of contact and resource for assigned units, and advise development officers and other staff on prospect management best practices and proper procedures. The position serves as a partner to ensure excellence in service to fundraisers in pipeline and portfolio development, including onboarding and reporting support.

     

    The successful candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, and be willing to work closely with the Senior Director to initiate and lead projects to strengthen gift officer portfolios. They will be highly customer service oriented, and excited by the challenge of making continual improvements while maintaining a high level of service to fundraisers presents an extremely exciting and rewarding opportunity for this role as the Foundation increases its investment in departments such as Prospect Management. The incumbent will able to provide reliable and timely high-level qualitative and quantitative data and trend analysis that supports the strategic planning and operational effectiveness of key fundraising programs to assigned units including principal, major, annual, and planned giving. Must have excellent communication skills; computer literacy to include industry standard software; and experience articulating values, information, and compelling cases to multiple audiences, one-on-one, and through formal proposals and/or presentations. Impeccable verbal and written communication skills are required.  An accessible and collegial leadership style is a prerequisite, as is the creativity and energy to convince and persuade varying constituencies of new ideas and directions.

    Laura DeLorenzo, Senior Director of Prospect Management

     

    Laura DeLorenzo joined Rutgers University Foundation in November 2017 in a newly created Senior Director of Prospect Management role. Since joining the Foundation, Laura has worked closely with fundraisers across the organization in implementing a prospect management program to increase productivity of portfolios across the Foundation. Prior to joining Rutgers, Laura DeLorenzo was Associate Director of Prospect Management at Princeton University. At Princeton, she launched their first comprehensive prospect management program. Prior to that, Laura worked at Columbia University providing research, prospect management, and stewardship support in the Office of Alumni and Development and the Columbia Business School. She began her career at The Metropolitan Museum of Art as a curatorial assistant within the department of the Arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Laura has a Bachelor’s degree from Loyola University Chicago and a Master’s from Columbia.

     

    Senior Prospect Management Analyst:

     

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the primary liaison for Prospect Management to a group of assigned frontline fundraisers. Manage the prospect pipeline and develop an annual operating plan in conjunction with development officers to ensure timely and accurate information management of data related to all donors and prospects. Work closely with the Prospect Research and Data Analytics teams to manage prospect assignment process and collaborate with the appropriate managers to facilitate assignment of seemingly viable prospective donors into the appropriate portfolios.
    • Ensure high data integrity by managing audit schedule designed to maintain the integrity of the Advance database, overseeing data management and Advance reporting, and providing regular progress reports to the Senior Director on active projects.

    Qualities of the Ideal Candidate:

     

    The Senior Analyst can be expected to have the following personal characteristics and professional qualifications:

    • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as library and information science, marketing research, journalism, data analysis, social science research, business, and/or similar fields.
    • Candidate should have demonstrated understanding of prospect research and prospect management processes and methodologies, and experience in higher education and/or fundraising is preferred. Minimum of three to five years of prospect research, moves management, development, fundraising, market research and/or relevant experience.
    • Demonstrated analytical, project design/management and creative problem-solving skills required. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines. 
    • Excellent communication skills, including ability to express all appropriate information clearly and concisely, whether written or verbal. High degree of customer service orientation is required.                                                                                                                      
    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook are required. Strong background with reporting software such as Tableau, Crystal Reports, etc. Experience with Advance fundraising software is also highly preferable.
    • Must be able to work independently as well as coordinate projects with others. This individual must possess a high degree of professionalism and ethics and be sensitive at all times to the discretion necessary to be successful in this field.
